Headmaster Mike Murphy was seeking a way to develop the leadership talents of Administrative Team members wishing to become Heads of Schools. In addition, Mike was trying to encourage team members to work with people who would add strength and perspective to the school’s ambitious projects.
Marty Petty administered the Hartman Value Profile™ assessment to all administrative team members. Each individual was provided with a feedback/coaching session. Marty then met with the team to explain how the skills identified in the results of the Hartman could be used to strengthen team performance. Two years later, Marty took every team member through a new Hartman assessment. Feedback and coaching sessions were provided and prior scores compared to show growth of the individual. This was a very motivating experience. The same team process was repeated.
Two members of the team went on to be Heads of Schools. One other is preparing to become a Head. When Mike retired recently, the new Head of School reached out to state that the Administrative team was incredibly strong with not only great self-awareness and confidence, but also a strong awareness of how to maximize the strengths of the team.
